Do Not Forget Spices
Right now writing a set of stories. Kinda bland stuff, but it has potential. There is a definite story, but at the moment not certain if it is entertaining. I am still writing.
Once I have the story written, then I can consider the problems that I recognize. Like editing, spicing a story to give it more appeal is a job of a writer. The primary responsibility is to tell a good story, but it helps to add in the emotion, the descriptions, the actions that will pull a person into the narrative. As with spices, some consider it impossible to add too much while others react with just a pinch. You are the writer, so find the levels that you and a good percentage of your audience will find satisfying.
